Steven has debut performance at CARNEGIE HALL in New York City !!
On Sunday May 30, 2010, twenty year old Steven Solomon played the piano in concert at Carnegie Hall in the Stern Auditorium/Ronald Perelman Stage.
Steven, along with his sixteen fellow musicians and two conductors in the Western Illinois University, Jazz Studio Orchestra (JSO) from Macomb, Illinois, were invited to accompany three well known European musicians from Italy. Bepi Damato, clarinetist; Mauro De Federicis, guitarist; and Marco Renzi, conductor and composer. All three tour the world, performing with the renowned "Italian Big Band."
Steven was also one of the JSO's featured soloist during the concert.
Over 2,000 audience members gave the Jazz Studio Orchestra a standing ovation at the concert's end and called for the JSO and it's guest artists to play an unplanned encore.
For Steven and his fellow JSO band members this was an experience of a lifetime!
In July of 2010, Steven was honored by the City Council of the City of Chicago and Mayor Richard Daley by the introduction, reading and adoption of a special Resolution presented by Alderman Mary Ann Smith, reconizing Steven for his Carnegie Hall Debut and his many musical accomplishments that he's achieved at a young age.
--------------------------------
Since 1999 (starting when he was just 10 years old), Steven has played the piano at over 400 paid professional performances and at countless other performances (see a partial list below).
